Tuesday update: 41 new coronavirus cases in York

Another 41 coronavirus cases were confirmed in York today (Tuesday, 26 January).

It takes the cumulative total to 10,779 – giving an overall infection rate of 5,117.8 cases per 100,000 people.

In the last seven days 547 people in York have tested positive for Covid-19 – a decrease of 292 (-34.8%) week on week.

The rolling seven-day rate in York is 285.8 new cases per 100,000 people (602 cases in the week to 22 January). That’s up from 457.2 in the previous seven days (963 cases in the week to 15 January).

The English national average is 403.9, the Yorkshire and Humber average is 252.7.

There have been 11 more coronavirus-related deaths in the York council area, and 29 in the last seven days (up four / 16%).

In North Yorkshire, there were 119 new coronavirus cases today, taking the cumulative total to 24,829  – an infection rate of 4,036.5 cases per 100K.

There are 1,560 cases in Ryedale (up two), 3,995 in Selby (up 23), 6,421 in Harrogate (up 29), 3,501 in Hambleton (up 19), 4,897 in Scarborough (up 16), 2,141 in Richmondshire (up 17) and 2,433 in Craven (up 13).

There were seven more coronavirus-related deaths reported by York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

That takes the total to 471 across the trust (York and Scarborough Hospitals).
