Tuesday update: 22 more coronavirus cases in York, but trend continues down

There were another 22 coronavirus cases confirmed in York today (Tuesday, 8 December).

That takes the cumulative total to 5,796 – giving an overall infection rate of 2,751.9 cases per 100,000 people.

In the last seven days there have been 137 positive Covid-19 tests in York – a decrease of four (2.8%) week on week.

The rolling seven-day rate in York is 58.4 new cases per 100,000 people (123 cases in the week to 4 December). That’s down from 82.6 in the previous seven days (174 cases in the week to 27 November).

At the University of York, there were nine individuals self isolating due to a positive Covid-19 test today. Since the previous update on Monday it has been notified of one new case.

At York St John University, there were no people self isolating due to a positive test on Monday.

In North Yorkshire, there were 61 new coronavirus cases today, taking the cumulative total to 13,996 – an infection rate of 2,264.5 cases per 100K.

There are 772 cases in Ryedale (up two), 2,210 in Selby (up 14), 3,741 in Harrogate (up 16), 1,779 in Hambleton (up five), 3,077 in Scarborough (up 16), 1,029 in Richmondshire (up two) and 1,388 in Craven (up six).

There were three more coronavirus-related deaths reported by York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust today. We don’t know whether they were at York or Scarborough Hospitals

That takes the total to 317 across the trust.
