Tree blows over onto main York road, causing traffic disruption

A tree has blown down in the high winds in York this morning.

It has come down into Holgate Road, said to be from the flats next door to the Kilima Hotel.

Witness Gav Aitchison told YorkMix: “Coupled with the roadworks on that stretch, it’s causing huge queues, eastbound all the way from the Bluebird Bakery to Kilima Hotel.

“There’s a very narrow gap between tree and roadworks, so traffic is inching through slowly.”
