Thursday update: York’s coronavirus case rate falls again

A further five coronavirus cases were confirmed in York today (Thursday, 20 May).

That takes the cumulative total to 12,344 – giving an overall infection rate of 5,860.8 cases per 100,000 people.

In the last seven days 22 people in York have tested positive for Covid-19 – down 15 (-40.5%) week on week.

The rolling seven-day rate in York is 12.3 new cases per 100,000 people (26 cases in the week to 16 May). That’s down from 16.1 in the previous seven days (34 cases in the week to 9 May).

The English national average is 21, the Yorkshire and Humber average is 34.7.

There have been no coronavirus deaths in the City of York Council area in the last seven days.

In North Yorkshire, there were nine new coronavirus cases today, taking the cumulative total to 30,145  – an infection rate of 4,877.4 cases per 100K.

There are 1,894 cases in Ryedale (no change), 5,199 in Selby (up five), 7,729 in Harrogate (up one), 4,225 in Hambleton (no change), 5,605 in Scarborough (up two), 2,648 in Richmondshire (no change) and 2,845 in Craven (up one).

There were no more coronavirus-related deaths reported by York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust today.

That leaves the total at 591 across the trust (York and Scarborough Hospitals). The last death reported at the trust was on 21 April.
