Thursday update: York coronavirus case rate falls again – 16 more cases in Selby

Another seven coronavirus cases were confirmed in York today (Thursday, 6 May).

That takes the cumulative total to 12,297 – giving an overall infection rate of 5,838.5 cases per 100,000 people.

In the last seven days 33 people in York have tested positive for Covid-19 – down 14 (-29.8%) week on week.

The rolling seven-day rate in York is 17.6 new cases per 100,000 people (37 cases in the week to 2 May). That’s down from 23.3 in the previous seven days (49 cases in the week to 25 April).

The English national average is 22.5, the Yorkshire and Humber average is 44.1.

There have been no coronavirus deaths in the City of York Council area in the last seven days.

In North Yorkshire, there were 26 new coronavirus cases today, taking the cumulative total to 29,998  – an infection rate of 4,853.6 cases per 100K.

There are 1,897 cases in Ryedale (up one), 5,119 in Selby (up 16), 7,693 in Harrogate (up two), 4,217 in Hambleton (up four), 5,591 in Scarborough (up two), 2,639 in Richmondshire (up one) and 2,842 in Craven (no change).

There were no more coronavirus-related deaths reported by York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust today.

That leaves the total at 591 across the trust (York and Scarborough Hospitals). The last death reported at the trust was on 21 April.
