Thursday update: Six more coronavirus cases in York, 40 in North Yorkshire

Another six coronavirus cases were confirmed in York today (Thursday, 22 April).

That takes the cumulative total to 12,217 – giving an overall infection rate of 5,800.5 cases per 100,000 people.

In the last seven days 43 people in York have tested positive for Covid-19 – up 21 (95.5%) week on week.

The rolling seven-day rate in York is 14.7 new cases per 100,000 people (31 cases in the week to 18 April). That’s up from 11.4 in the previous seven days (24 cases in the week to 11 April).

The English national average is 23.8, the Yorkshire and Humber average is 46.7.

There were no more coronavirus-related deaths in the York council area today, and one in the last seven days (up one / 0%).

In North Yorkshire, there were 40 new coronavirus cases today, taking the cumulative total to 29,678  – an infection rate of 4,801.8 cases per 100K.

There are 1,878 cases in Ryedale (up one), 4,975 in Selby (up 22), 7,643 in Harrogate (up one), 4,187 in Hambleton (no change), 5,560 in Scarborough (up six), 2,619 in Richmondshire (up three) and 2,816 in Craven (up seven).

There were no more coronavirus-related deaths reported by York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust today.

That leaves the total at 591 across the trust (York and Scarborough Hospitals). The last death reported at the trust was on 21 April.
