Thursday update: Positive coronavirus test rates rise in York

A further ten coronavirus cases were confirmed in York today (Thursday, 27 May).

That takes the cumulative total to 12,384 – giving an overall infection rate of 5,879.8 cases per 100,000 people.

In the last seven days 40 people in York have tested positive for Covid-19 – up 18 (81.8%) week on week.

The rolling seven-day rate in York is 14.2 new cases per 100,000 people (30 cases in the week to 23 May). That’s up from 12.8 in the previous seven days (27 cases in the week to 16 May).

The English national average is 23.6, the Yorkshire and Humber average is 37.5.

There have been no coronavirus deaths in the City of York Council area in the last seven days.

In North Yorkshire, there were 20 new coronavirus cases today, taking the cumulative total to 30,230 – an infection rate of 4,891.2 cases per 100K.

There are 1,894 cases in Ryedale (no change), 5,222 in Selby (up three), 7,751 in Harrogate (up five), 4,233 in Hambleton (up one), 5,625 in Scarborough (up six), 2,652 in Richmondshire (up one) and 2,853 in Craven (up four).

There were no more coronavirus-related deaths reported by York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust today.

That leaves the total at 591 across the trust (York and Scarborough Hospitals). The last death reported at the trust was on 21 April.
