Thursday update: Another 600+ coronavirus cases in York and North Yorkshire

Another 199 coronavirus cases were confirmed in York today (Thursday, 7 January).

It takes the cumulative total to 8,522 – giving an overall infection rate of 4,046.2 cases per 100,000 people.

In the last seven days there have been 1,281 positive Covid-19 tests in York – an increase of 488 (61.5%) week on week.

The rolling seven-day rate in York is 573.6 new cases per 100,000 people (1,208 cases in the week to 3 January). That’s up from 296.7 in the previous seven days (625 cases in the week to 27 December).

In North Yorkshire, there were 419 new coronavirus cases today, taking the cumulative total to 20,226  – an infection rate of 3,272.5 cases per 100K.

There are 1,191 cases in Ryedale (up 18), 3,173 in Selby (up 78), 5,160 in Harrogate (up 120), 2,674 in Hambleton (up 59), 4,354 in Scarborough (up 66), 1,645 in Richmondshire (up 35) and 1,970 in Craven (up 82).

There were two more coronavirus-related deaths reported by York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust today.

That takes the total to 390 across the trust (York and Scarborough Hospitals).
