Thursday update: Another 56 coronavirus cases confirmed in York

A further 56 coronavirus cases were confirmed in York today (Thursday, 22 October).

That takes the cumulative total to 3,072 – giving an overall infection rate of 1,458.6 cases per 100,000 people.

The rolling seven-day rate in York is 307.2 new cases per 100,000 people (647 cases in the week to 18 October). That’s up from 266.4 in the previous seven days (561 cases in the week to 11 October).

In the last seven days there have been 673 positive Covid-19 tests in York – which is up by 112 (20.0%).

At the University of York, there were 270 individuals self isolating due to a positive Covid-19 test today. That includes a further 26 new cases since the previous update at 4.10pm on Wednesday.

At York St John University there were 49 people self isolating due to a positive test today.

In North Yorkshire, there were 122 new confirmed Covid-19 cases today, taking the cumulative total to 6,463 – an infection rate of 1,045.7 cases per 100K.

There are 366 cases in Ryedale (up 6), 996 in Selby (up 31), 1,835 in Harrogate (up 30), 850 in Hambleton (up 15), 1,114 in Scarborough (up 20), 562 in Richmondshire (up 11) and 740 in Craven (up nine).

There were no more coronavirus-related deaths reported by York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust today.

That leaves the total at 225. We don’t have an up-to-date breakdown of that figure between York and Scarborough Hospitals.
