Thursday update: Another 221 coronavirus cases confirmed in York

Another 221 coronavirus cases were confirmed in York today (Thursday, 16 December).

That takes the cumulative case total to 31,119 – giving an overall infection rate of 14,747.5 cases per 100,000 people.

In the last seven days 1,081 people in York have tested positive for Covid-19 – up 231 (27.2%) week on week.

The rolling seven-day rate in York is 453.1 new cases per 100,000 people (956 cases in the week to 12 December). That’s up from 404.2 in the previous seven days (853 cases in the week to 5 December).

The English national average is 540.1, the Yorkshire and Humber average is 359.6.

There were no coronavirus deaths in the City of York Council area reported today, and none in the last seven days (as at 16 December).

There were no coronavirus-related deaths reported by York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust today.

That leaves the total at 723 across the trust (York and Scarborough Hospitals).

There were six coronavirus patients admitted to the York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust trust on 12 December, and 42 patients in hospital on 14 December, two in ventilation beds. In the previous seven days, 45 Covid patients were admitted – up 18.
