Thursday update: 469 new coronavirus cases in York and North Yorkshire

A further 143 coronavirus cases were confirmed in York today (Thursday, 8 July).

That takes the cumulative case total to 14,785 – giving an overall infection rate of 7,019.8 cases per 100,000 people.

In the last seven days 849 people in York have tested positive for Covid-19 – up 52 (6.5%) week on week.

The rolling seven-day rate in York is 409.3 new cases per 100,000 people (862 cases in the week to 4 July). That’s up from 328.6 in the previous seven days (692 cases in the week to 27 June).

The English national average is 263.9, the Yorkshire and Humber average is 317.9.

As of Friday 2 July, the University of York had 240 individuals who were currently self-isolating because they have had a positive Covid-19 test.

There have been no coronavirus deaths in the City of York Council area reported today, and one in the last seven days (as at 8 July).

In North Yorkshire, there were 326 new coronavirus cases today, taking the cumulative total to 34,712 – an infection rate of 5,616.3 cases per 100K.

There are

  • 2,121 cases in Ryedale (up 11) – case rate 167.9 per 100K
  • 6,048 in Selby (up 56) – 294.6
  • 9,135 in Harrogate (up 99) – 324.6
  • 4,752 in Hambleton (up 65) – 234.7
  • 6,206 in Scarborough (up 42) – 204.1
  • 3,084 in Richmondshire (up 32) – 268
  • 3,301 in Craven (up 21) – 269.5.

There were no coronavirus-related deaths reported by York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust today.

That leaves the total at 594 across the trust (York and Scarborough Hospitals). The last death was reported on 5 July.

There were six coronavirus patients admitted to the trust on 4 July, and 13 in the previous seven days (up six).
