Thursday update: 36 more coronavirus cases in York

A further 36 coronavirus cases were confirmed in York today (Thursday, 4 February).

It takes the cumulative total to 11,251 – giving an overall infection rate of 5,341.9 cases per 100,000 people.

In the last seven days 332 people in York have tested positive for Covid-19 – a decrease of 121 (-26.7%) week on week.

The rolling seven-day rate in York is 184.2 new cases per 100,000 people (388 cases in the week to 31 January). That’s down from 256.9 in the previous seven days (541 cases in the week to 24 January).

The English national average is 260.6, the Yorkshire and Humber average is 202.8.

There has been one more coronavirus-related death in the York council area, and 26 in the last seven days (down four / 15.4%).

In North Yorkshire, there were 91 new coronavirus cases today, taking the cumulative total to 26,191  – an infection rate of 4,237.7 cases per 100K.

There are 1,633 cases in Ryedale (up three), 4,230 in Selby (up 19), 6,777 in Harrogate (up 17), 3,713 in Hambleton (up 16), 5,045 in Scarborough (up 17), 2,264 in Richmondshire (up 12) and 2,529 in Craven (up seven).

There were four more coronavirus-related deaths reported by York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

That takes the total to 516 across the trust (York and Scarborough Hospitals).
