Thursday update: 16 more coronavirus cases in York

Another 16 coronavirus cases were confirmed in York today (Thursday, 25 February).

It takes the cumulative total to 11,805 – giving an overall infection rate of 5,604.9 cases per 100,000 people.

In the last seven days 164 people in York have tested positive for Covid-19 – an increase of 11 (7.2%) week on week.

The rolling seven-day rate in York is 77.4 new cases per 100,000 people (163 cases in the week to 21 February). That’s down from 81.7 in the previous seven days (172 cases in the week to 14 February).

The English national average is 118.3, the Yorkshire and Humber average is 154.3.

There has been one more coronavirus-related death in the York council area, and seven in the last seven days (down 11 / -61.1%).

In North Yorkshire, there were 46 new coronavirus cases today, taking the cumulative total to 27,938  – an infection rate of 4,520.3 cases per 100K.

There are 1,781 cases in Ryedale (up two), 4,527 in Selby (up five), 7,238 in Harrogate (up 12), 4,009 in Hambleton (up 11), 5,276 in Scarborough (up five), 2,453 in Richmondshire (up eight) and 2,642 in Craven (up three).

There was one more coronavirus-related death reported by York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust today.

That takes the total to 570 across the trust (York and Scarborough Hospitals).
