The people of Thirsk have been incredibly generous in donating aid for Ukraine. Donations are being collected at Unit 7, Marrtree Industrial Estate, Sowerby, Thirsk YO7 3HF.

Residents and businesses have joined forces to organise the transport and logistics of delivering these donations to Ukraine with vans, trailers and drivers pledged by Thirsk people.

And yesterday (Monday), the first trucks set off from Thirsk to deliver the aid.

It is all being documented via the Yorkshire to Ukraine Instagram page which is well worth a follow.

They said:

With a change in EU rules about transporting items out to mainland Europe, we didn’t think this would be possible so soon.

However, the incredible people of Thirsk and the surrounding areas have pulled off the most incredible task of packing and labelling every box to fit with EU regulations and filled 4 trucks!

So far we have boxed up 17 tonnes of donations!! 👏👏

Well done and good luck to the drivers too!

The people of Thirsk and surrounding villages should be so proud of what we have achieved in less than a week.

You can also donate via their JustGiving page.
