Sunday update: Two more coronavirus cases in York, eight in North Yorkshire

Another two coronavirus cases were confirmed in York today (Sunday, 2 May).

That takes the cumulative total to 12,280 – giving an overall infection rate of 5,830.5 cases per 100,000 people.

In the last seven days 39 people in York have tested positive for Covid-19 – down ten (-20.4%) week on week.

The rolling seven-day rate in York is 21.8 new cases per 100,000 people. The English national average is 23.4, the Yorkshire and Humber average is 43.8.

There were no more coronavirus-related deaths in the York council area today.

In North Yorkshire, there were eight new coronavirus cases today, taking the cumulative total to 29,922  – an infection rate of 4,840 cases per 100K.

There are 1,893 cases in Ryedale (up one), 5,085 in Selby (up one), 7,680 in Harrogate (up two), 4,210 in Hambleton (up one), 5,586 in Scarborough (up two), 2,633 in Richmondshire (no change) and 2,835 in Craven (up one).

There were no more coronavirus-related deaths reported by York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust today.

That leaves the total at 591 across the trust (York and Scarborough Hospitals). The last death reported at the trust was on 21 April.
