Sunday update: Total York coronavirus cases top 9,000 – but infection rate falls

A further 210 coronavirus cases were confirmed in York today (Sunday, 10 January).

It takes the cumulative total to 9,111 – giving an overall infection rate of 4,325.8 cases per 100,000 people.

In the last seven days there have been 1,393 positive Covid-19 tests in York – an increase of 343 (32.7%) week on week.

The rolling seven-day rate in York is 618.7 new cases per 100,000 people, down from 626.3 yesterdat.

There have been one more coronavirus-related death in the York council area, and ten in the last seven days (up one or 11.1%).

In North Yorkshire, there were 349 new coronavirus cases today, taking the cumulative total to 21,225  – an infection rate of 3,434.2 cases per 100K.

There are 1,270 cases in Ryedale (up 24), 3,385 in Selby (up 91), 5,429 in Harrogate (up 83), 2,867 in Hambleton (up 44), 4,457 in Scarborough (up 19), 1,738 in Richmondshire (up 40) and 2,079 in Craven (up 48).

There was one more coronavirus-related death reported by York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust today.

That takes the total to 394 across the trust (York and Scarborough Hospitals).
