Sunday update: Seven areas of York now have 20+ coronavirus cases

A further 54 coronavirus cases were confirmed in York today (Sunday, 27 December).

It takes the cumulative total to 6,668 – giving an overall infection rate of 3,165.9 cases per 100,000 people.

In the last seven days there have been 549 positive Covid-19 tests in York – an increase of 329 (149.5%) week on week.

In North Yorkshire, there were 115 new coronavirus cases today, taking the cumulative total to 16,403 – an infection rate of 2,654 cases per 100K.

There are 942 cases in Ryedale (up six), 2,585 in Selby (up 19), 4,176 in Harrogate (up 19), 2,126 in Hambleton (up 34), 3,748 in Scarborough (up 15), 1,240 in Richmondshire (up 13) and 1,586 in Craven (up nine).

There were three more coronavirus-related deaths reported by York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust today.

That takes the total to 364 across the trust (York and Scarborough Hospitals).

Here are the updated figures (yesterday’s numbers in brackets):

  • Total of people tested positive in the UK: 2,288,345 (2,256,005)
  • Daily total of people tested positive: 30,501 (34,693)
  • Total number UK deaths: 70,752 (70,405)
  • Daily UK deaths: 316 (210)
  • Confirmed cases in York: 6,668 (6,614)
  • Confirmed cases in North Yorkshire: 16,403 (16,288)
  • Confirmed cases in East Yorkshire: 11,777 (11,706)
