Sunday update: Positive Covid tests drop by a third in one week in York

A further 30 coronavirus cases were confirmed in York today (Sunday, 14 February).

It takes the cumulative total to 11,572 – giving an overall infection rate of 5,494.3 cases per 100,000 people.

In the last seven days 191 people in York have tested positive for Covid-19 – a decrease of 101 (-34.6%) week on week.

The rolling seven-day rate in York is 106.8 new cases per 100,000 people.

The English national average is 167.5, the Yorkshire and Humber average is 174.7.

There has been one more coronavirus-related death in the York council area, and 14 in the last seven days (down six / 30%).

In North Yorkshire, there were 85 new coronavirus cases today, taking the cumulative total to 27,170  – an infection rate of 4,396.1 cases per 100K.

There are 1,719 cases in Ryedale (up 12), 4,394 in Selby (up 12), 7,028 in Harrogate (up 22), 3,897 in Hambleton (up 16), 5,180 in Scarborough (up six), 2,366 in Richmondshire (up nine) and 2,586 in Craven (up eight).

There were two more coronavirus-related deaths reported by York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

That takes the total to 544 across the trust (York and Scarborough Hospitals).
