Sunday update: Only one area of York now has a positive coronavirus rate

Another 42 coronavirus cases were confirmed in York today (Sunday, 31 January).

It takes the cumulative total to 11,089 – giving an overall infection rate of 5,265 cases per 100,000 people.

In the last seven days 417 people in York have tested positive for Covid-19 – a decrease of 201 (-32.5%) week on week.

The rolling seven-day rate in York is 213.2 new cases per 100,000 people.

The English national average is 309.5, the Yorkshire and Humber average is 217.

There has been one more coronavirus-related death in the York council area, and 31 in the last seven days (up six / 24%).

In North Yorkshire, there were 163 new coronavirus cases today, taking the cumulative total to 25,789  – an infection rate of 4,172.6 cases per 100K.

There are 1,603 cases in Ryedale (up eight), 4,159 in Selby (up 33), 6,652 in Harrogate (up 41), 3,663 in Hambleton (up 28), 4,994 in Scarborough (up 19), 2,216 in Richmondshire (up 16) and 2,502 in Craven (up 18).

There were five more coronavirus-related deaths reported by York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

That takes the total to 493 across the trust (York and Scarborough Hospitals).
