Sunday update: One area of York now has too few coronavirus cases to count

Another 52 coronavirus cases were confirmed in York today (Sunday, 19 September).

That takes the cumulative case total to 21,374 – giving an overall infection rate of 10,129.3 cases per 100,000 people.

In the last seven days 378 people in York have tested positive for Covid-19 – down 109 (-22.4%) week on week.

The rolling seven-day rate in York is 169.7 new cases per 100,000 people (358 cases).

The English national average is 265, the Yorkshire and Humber average is 311.3.

The falling coronavirus rate in York is reflected in the fact that one area of the city – Suth Bank & Dringhouses – now has too few Covid infections (between zero and two) to be counted in the official figures.

There were no coronavirus deaths in the City of York Council area reported today, and none in the last seven days (as at 19 September).

  • 9,363 in Selby (up 38) – 232.3
  • 14,993 in Harrogate (up 66) – 298.4
  • 7,902 in Hambleton (up 32) – 206.7

At weekends, NHS England doesn’t issue updates on coronavirus deaths in hospitals.

There were five coronavirus patients admitted to the York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust trust on 12 September, and 42 in the previous seven days (no change).
