Sunday update: Nine areas of York have 30 or more coronavirus cases

Another 76 coronavirus cases were confirmed in York today (Sunday, 29 August).

That takes the cumulative case total to 19,997 – giving an overall infection rate of 9,476.7 cases per 100,000 people.

In the last seven days 565 people in York have tested positive for Covid-19 – down 114 (-16.8%) week on week.

The rolling seven-day rate in York is 302.8 new cases per 100,000 people (639 cases).

The English national average is 326.3, the Yorkshire and Humber average is 359.3.

There were no coronavirus deaths in the City of York Council area reported today, and three in the last seven days (as at 29 August).

In North Yorkshire, there were 269 new coronavirus cases today, taking the cumulative total to 50,410 – an infection rate of 8,122.7 cases per 100K.

There are:

  • 3,223 cases in Ryedale (up 21) – 373.9 case rate per 100K
  • 8,447 in Selby (up 43) – 356.6
  • 13,206 in Harrogate (up 80) – 301.5
  • 7,160 in Hambleton (up 34) – 249.1
  • 9,117 in Scarborough (up 50) – 310.8
  • 4,453 in Richmondshire (up 19) – 284.7
  • 4,804 in Craven (up 22) – 364.5.

At weekends, the NHS doesn’t issue figures for coronavirus deaths in hospital trusts.

There were five coronavirus patients admitted to the York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust trust on 22 August, and 43 in the previous seven days (up 18).
