Sunday update: More than 10K people in York have now had coronavirus

Another 108 coronavirus cases were confirmed in York today (Sunday, 17 January).

It takes the cumulative total to 10,054 – giving an overall infection rate of 4,773.6 cases per 100,000 people.

In the last seven days 943 people in York have tested positive for Covid-19 – a decrease of 450 (-32.3%) week on week.

The rolling seven-day rate in York is 550.8 new cases per 100,000 people. This time last week it was 618.7.

The English national average is 537.9, the Yorkshire and Humber average is 291.

There have been three more coronavirus-related deaths in the York council area, and 23 in the last seven days (up 13 / 130%).

In North Yorkshire, there were 245 new coronavirus cases today, taking the cumulative total to 23,286  – an infection rate of 3,767.6 cases per 100K.

There are 1,441 cases in Ryedale (up 22), 3,689 in Selby (up 42), 5,875 in Harrogate (up 20), 3,244 in Hambleton (up 42), 4,726 in Scarborough (up 35), 1,978 in Richmondshire (up 25) and 2,269 in Craven (up 15).

There were five more coronavirus-related deaths reported by York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

That takes the total to 420 across the trust (York and Scarborough Hospitals).
