Sunday update: 636 new coronavirus cases in York and North Yorkshire

A further 136 coronavirus cases were confirmed in York today (Sunday, 18 July).

That takes the cumulative case total to 16,179 – giving an overall infection rate of 7,681.7 cases per 100,000 people.

In the last seven days 1,053 people in York have tested positive for Covid-19 – up 204 (24.0%) week on week.

The rolling seven-day rate in York is 437.3 new cases per 100,000 people (921 cases in the week to 14 July).

The English national average is 398.6, the Yorkshire and Humber average is 514.1.

As of Friday 16 July, the University of York had 37 individuals who were currently self-isolating because they have had a positive Covid-19 test (down from 110 the week before).

There has been no coronavirus deaths in the City of York Council area reported today, and one in the last seven days (as at 18 July).

In North Yorkshire, there were 500 new coronavirus cases today, taking the cumulative total to 39,107 – an infection rate of 6,327.4 cases per 100K.

There are:

  • 2,319 cases in Ryedale (up 16) – case rate 229.3 per 100K
  • 6,640 in Selby (up 76) – 374.1
  • 10,231 in Harrogate (up 123) – 423.4
  • 5,629 in Hambleton (up 106) – 531.7
  • 7,024 in Scarborough (up 84) – 444.1
  • 3,515 in Richmondshire (up 38) – 489.5
  • 3,749 in Craven (up 57) – 421.8.

At weekends, NHS England no longer reports hospital Covid deaths.

There were five coronavirus patients admitted to the trust on 11 July, and 24 in the previous seven days (up 11).
