Saturday update: York records 1,000 new coronavirus cases in a week

Another 187 coronavirus cases were confirmed in York today (Saturday, 17 July).

That takes the cumulative case total to 16,043 – giving an overall infection rate of 7,617.1 cases per 100,000 people.

In the last seven days 1,028 people in York have tested positive for Covid-19 – up 162 (18.7%) week on week.

The rolling seven-day rate in York is 449.2 new cases per 100,000 people (946 cases in the week to 13 July).

The English national average is 378.7, the Yorkshire and Humber average is 494.

As of Friday 16 July, the University of York had 37 individuals who were currently self-isolating because they have had a positive Covid-19 test (down from 110 the week before).

There has been no coronavirus deaths in the City of York Council area reported today, and one in the last seven days (as at 17 July).

In North Yorkshire, there were 675 new coronavirus cases today, taking the cumulative total to 38,607 – an infection rate of 6,246.5 cases per 100K.

There are:

  • 2,303 cases in Ryedale (up 32) – case rate 202.2 per 100K
  • 6,564 in Selby (up 84) – 354.2
  • 10,108 in Harrogate (up 170) – 418.5
  • 5,523 in Hambleton (up 109) – 505.5
  • 6,940 in Scarborough (up 116) – 348.5
  • 3,477 in Richmondshire (up 75) – 444.8
  • 3,692 in Craven (up 89) – 372.8.

At weekends, NHS England no longer reports hospital Covid deaths.

There were five coronavirus patients admitted to the trust on 11 July, and 24 in the previous seven days (up 11).
