Saturday update: Two more coronavirus deaths within York NHS Trust and 81 new cases in York

There were two more deaths at York NHS Trust and a further 81 coronavirus cases confirmed in York today (Saturday, 17 October).

That takes the cumulative total to 2,555 – giving an overall infection rate of 1,213.1 cases per 100,000 people.

In the last seven days there have been 591 positive Covid-19 tests in York – which is up by 25 (4.4%).

At the University of York, there were 326 individuals self isolating due to a positive Covid-19 test on Friday, up from 324 the day before.

At York St John University there were 65 people self isolating due to a positive test on Friday. That’s down from 70 on Thursday.

In North Yorkshire, there were 99 new confirmed Covid-19 cases today, taking the cumulative total to 5,724 – an infection rate of 926.1 cases per 100K.

There are 323 cases in Ryedale (up five), 838 in Selby (up 19), 1,637 in Harrogate (up 39), 749 in Hambleton (up 13), 1,018 in Scarborough (up 11), 509 in Richmondshire (up three) and 650 in Craven (up nine).

There have been two more coronavirus-related deaths reported by York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust today.

That takes the total to 223. At the weekends, we are unable to report whether these occurred at York or Scarborough Hospitals.

  • Daily total of people tested positive: 16,171 (15,650)
  • Total number UK deaths: 43,579 (43,429)

  • Daily deaths in Yorkshire and the Humber: 0 (15)
  • Confirmed cases in York: 2,555 (2,474)
  • Confirmed cases in North Yorkshire: 5,724 (5,625)
  • Confirmed cases in East Yorkshire: 3,062 (3,062)
