Saturday update: New coronavirus cases in York fall by a third in a week

Another 51 coronavirus cases were confirmed in York today (Saturday, 24 July).

That takes the cumulative case total to 16,777 – giving an overall infection rate of 7,965.6 cases per 100,000 people.

That’s down from 187 new cases a week ago (Saturday, 17 July).

In the last seven days 734 people in York have tested positive for Covid-19 – down 294 (-28.6%) week on week.

The rolling seven-day rate in York is 460.5 new cases per 100,000 people (970 cases in the week to 20 July).

The English national average is 545.1, the Yorkshire and Humber average is 648.4.

There have been no coronavirus deaths in the City of York Council area reported today, and one in the last seven days (as at 24 July).

In North Yorkshire, there were 283 new coronavirus cases today, taking the cumulative total to 41,501 – an infection rate of 6,714.8 cases per 100K.

There are:

  • 2,448 cases in Ryedale (up 19) – case rate 321.4 per 100K
  • 6,998 in Selby (up 35) – 576
  • 10,804 in Harrogate (up 78) – 527.9
  • 6,032 in Hambleton (up 37) – 695.5
  • 7,494 in Scarborough (up 51) – 650.1
  • 3,715 in Richmondshire (up 22) – 673.7
  • 4,010 in Craven (up 41) – 684.3.

At weekends, NHS England no longer reports coronavirus deaths in hospitals.

There were four coronavirus patients admitted to the trust on 18 July, and 30 in the previous seven days (up six).
