Saturday update: More than 100 new coronavirus cases in York – but infection rate falling
Another 105 coronavirus cases were confirmed in York today (Saturday, 16 January).
It takes the cumulative total to 9,946 – giving an overall infection rate of 4,722.3 cases per 100,000 people.
In the last seven days there have been 1,045 positive Covid-19 tests in York – a decrease of 284 (-21.4%) week on week.
The rolling seven-day rate in York is 580.7 new cases per 100,000 people. This time last week it was 626.3.
The English national average is 561.9, the Yorkshire and Humber average is 295.7.
There have been two more coronavirus-related deaths in the York council area, and 21 in the last seven days (up 11).

In North Yorkshire, there were 166 new coronavirus cases today, taking the cumulative total to 23,041 – an infection rate of 3,728 cases per 100K.
There are 1,419 cases in Ryedale (up 22), 3,647 in Selby (up 26), 5,875 in Harrogate (up 20), 3,202 in Hambleton (up 40), 4,691 in Scarborough (up 24), 1,953 in Richmondshire (up 15) and 2,254 in Craven (up 19).
There were two more coronavirus-related deaths reported by York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
That takes the total to 415 across the trust (York and Scarborough Hospitals).
