Saturday update: Fall in positive coronavirus tests in York

A further four coronavirus cases were confirmed in York today (Saturday, 1 May).

That takes the cumulative total to 12,278 – giving an overall infection rate of 5,829.5 cases per 100,000 people.

In the last seven days 42 people in York have tested positive for Covid-19 – down nine (-17.6%) week on week.

The rolling seven-day rate in York is 25.6 new cases per 100,000 people. The English national average is 23.8, the Yorkshire and Humber average is 45.4.

There were no more coronavirus-related deaths in the York council area today.

In North Yorkshire, there were 19 new coronavirus cases today, taking the cumulative total to 29,914  – an infection rate of 4,840 cases per 100K.

There are 1,892 cases in Ryedale (up one), 5,084 in Selby (up seven), 7,678 in Harrogate (up four), 4,209 in Hambleton (up one), 5,584 in Scarborough (up two), 2,633 in Richmondshire (up two) and 2,834 in Craven (up two).

There were no more coronavirus-related deaths reported by York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust today.

That leaves the total at 591 across the trust (York and Scarborough Hospitals). The last death reported at the trust was on 21 April.
