Saturday update: 54 more coronavirus cases in York

A further 54 coronavirus cases were confirmed in York today (Saturday, 31 July).

That takes the cumulative case total to 17,296 – giving an overall infection rate of 8,212 cases per 100,000 people.

In the last seven days 519 people in York have tested positive for Covid-19 – down 215 (-29.3%) week on week.

The rolling seven-day rate in York is 252.6 new cases per 100,000 people (532 cases in the week to 27 July).

The English national average is 322.5, the Yorkshire and Humber average is 387.

There have been no coronavirus deaths in the City of York Council area reported today, and none in the last seven days (as at 31 July).

In North Yorkshire, there were 233 new coronavirus cases today, taking the cumulative total to 43,109 – an infection rate of 6,975 cases per 100K.

  • 7,233 in Selby (up 37) – 310.1
  • 11,230 in Harrogate (up 69) – 296.6
  • 6,289 in Hambleton (up 33) – 355.9
  • 7,809 in Scarborough (up 40) – 351.2
  • 3,861 in Richmondshire (up 23) – 310.1
  • 4,150 in Craven (up 22) – 348.3.

At weekends, NHS England no longer reports coronavirus deaths in hospitals.

There were five coronavirus patients admitted to the York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust trust on 25 July, and 34 in the previous seven days (up four).
