Saturday update: 21 more coronavirus cases in York

A further 21 coronavirus cases were confirmed in York today (Saturday, 12 December).

That takes the cumulative total to 5,879 – giving an overall infection rate of 2,791.3 cases per 100,000 people.

In the last seven days there have been 142 positive Covid-19 tests in York – an increase of 17 (13.6%) week on week.

The latest validated data shows a coronavirus rate in York of 65 in the seven days to 6 December.

In North Yorkshire, there were 94 new coronavirus cases today, taking the cumulative total to 14,379 – an infection rate of 2,326.5 cases per 100K.

There are 797 cases in Ryedale (up eight), 2,283 in Selby (up 17), 3,822 in Harrogate (up 17), 1,797 in Hambleton (up seven), 3,191 in Scarborough (up 29), 1,064 in Richmondshire (up 12) and 1,425 in Craven (up four).

There was one more coronavirus-related deaths reported by York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust today. We don’t know whether it occurred in York Hospital or Scarborough.

That takes the total to 327 across the trust.
