Roadworks and flooding causing major problems on York roads

There are major problems on key roads in York this morning (Thursday, 16 November).

A combination of flooding and roadworks appear to be causing the tailbacks.

The A19 coming into York is very slow. A YorkMix Radio listener said this is due to a road in Naburn being flooded and traffic having to turn back and rejoin the A19.

And when traffic reaches the ring road, there are problems here too.

Roadworks have led to queueing traffic on A1237 both ways from the Great North Way to A19 Shipton Road.

One frustrated driver said: “A1237 a mess. Just been sat on it for an hour and turned around. It’s backed up past the New Earswick roundabout.”

The AA reports: “Severe delays of 12 minutes and delays increasing on A1237 Westbound between A1237 and Great North Way. Average speed 15 mph.”
