Resilience and hard work sees York High School score fantastic GCSEs

Fantastic results at York High School

The Year 11 students at York High School showed great resilience in bouncing back from the disruption of Covid and school closure to achieve ‘a fantastic set of results’.

Head teacher Rod Sims paid tribute to them and his staff today:

This group of students started at YHS when I became headteacher and we have faced the highs and lows of the last five years side by side.

The wonderful staff at YHS have enabled so many of our students to achieve higher than expected grades, whether this is at grade 4, 5 or 7+.  Year 11, well done!

Jess Fullerton deserves special congratulations for 8 grade 9s and two grade 8s, the school said.

Isabel Allman and Olivia Bielby also deserve a specific mention for achieving an average of grade 8 in all their subjects.

Students are given a GCSE forecast nationally based on their Sat results at the end of primary school – and these students achieved two grades higher than they were predicted: congratulations to Andy Slodki, Leila Weck, Nicole Smith, Simal Kara and Ruby Mason.
