Monday update: York’s coronavirus rate drops below regional average

A further 130 coronavirus cases were confirmed in York today (Monday, 12 July).

That takes the cumulative case total to 15,256 – giving an overall infection rate of 7,243.4 cases per 100,000 people.

In the last seven days 853 people in York have tested positive for Covid-19 – down five (-0.6%) week on week.

The rolling seven-day rate in York is 413.1 new cases per 100,000 people (870 cases in the week to 8 July). That’s up from 414.5 in the previous seven days (873 cases in the week to 1 July).

The English national average is 318.8, the Yorkshire and Humber average is 420.

As of Friday 9 July, the University of York had 110 individuals who were currently self-isolating because they have had a positive Covid-19 test (down from 240 the week before).

There have been no coronavirus deaths in the City of York Council area reported today, and one in the last seven days (as at 12 July).

In North Yorkshire, there were 329 new coronavirus cases today, taking the cumulative total to 36,024 – an infection rate of 5,828.6 cases per 100K.

There are:

  • 2,175 cases in Ryedale (up 20) – case rate 151.7 per 100K
  • 6,222 in Selby (up 48) – 365.3
  • 9,516 in Harrogate (up 98) – 388
  • 5,083 in Hambleton (up 62) – 364.7
  • 6,424 in Scarborough (up 47) – 250.1
  • 3,207 in Richmondshire (up 30) – 314.5
  • 3,397 in Craven (up 24) – 253.8.

There were no coronavirus-related deaths reported by York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust today, or over the weekend.

That leaves the total at 594 across the trust (York and Scarborough Hospitals). The last death was reported on 5 July.

There were six coronavirus patients admitted to the trust on 4 July, and 13 in the previous seven days (up six).
