Monday update: York Covid map turns almost white – as only two areas have enough cases to count

Four more coronavirus cases were confirmed in York today (Monday, 24 May).

That takes the cumulative total to 12,365 – giving an overall infection rate of 5,870.8 cases per 100,000 people.

In the last seven days 26 people in York have tested positive for Covid-19 – down five (-16.1%) week on week.

The rolling seven-day rate in York is 11.9 new cases per 100,000 people (25 cases in the week to 20 May). That’s down from 15.7 in the previous seven days (33 cases in the week to 13 May).

The English national average is 22, the Yorkshire and Humber average is 35.3.

There have been no coronavirus deaths in the City of York Council area in the last seven days.

Just two areas of York have enough cases to be recorded in the official figures.

In North Yorkshire, there were six new coronavirus cases today, taking the cumulative total to 30,184 – an infection rate of 4,883.7 cases per 100K.

There are 1,894 cases in Ryedale (no change), 5,215 in Selby (no change), 7,740 in Harrogate (up three), 4,228 in Hambleton (up one), 5,610 in Scarborough (no change), 2,650 in Richmondshire (no change) and 2,847 in Craven (up two).

There were no more coronavirus-related deaths reported by York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust today.

That leaves the total at 591 across the trust (York and Scarborough Hospitals). The last death reported at the trust was on 21 April.

For the first time since the pandemic began, there are no Covid patients in York Hospital.
