Monday update: York coronavirus cases continue to rise sharply

A further 99 coronavirus cases were confirmed in York today (Monday, 28 December).

It takes the cumulative total to 6,767. The overall infection rate is not available today.

In the last seven days there have been 601 positive Covid-19 tests in York – an increase of 353 (142.3%) week on week.

The latest validated data shows a coronavirus rate in York of 196.1 per 100,000 people in the seven days to 22 December.

In North Yorkshire, there were 193 new coronavirus cases today, taking the cumulative total to 16,596. The infection rate is not available today.

There are 957 cases in Ryedale (up 15), 2,614 in Selby (up 29), 4,211 in Harrogate (up 35), 2,178 in Hambleton (up 52), 3,772 in Scarborough (up 24), 1,268 in Richmondshire (up 28) and 1,596 in Craven (up ten).

There were no more coronavirus-related deaths reported by York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust today.

That leaves the total at 364 across the trust (York and Scarborough Hospitals).
