Monday update: York coronavirus case rate starts to rise

Another 434 coronavirus cases were confirmed in York today (Monday, 7 March) – including the weekend figures.

That takes the cumulative case total to 55,725 – giving an overall infection rate of 26,408.5 cases per 100,000 people.

In the last seven days 949 people in York have tested positive for Covid-19 – up 252 (36.2%) week on week.

The rolling seven-day rate in York is 337.4 new cases per 100,000 people (712 cases in the week to 3 March).

The English national average is 313.4, the Yorkshire and Humber average is 231.

The dashboard is showing 69 coronavirus deaths in the City of York Council area in the last seven days (down 24) – we’ve now got confirmation from City of York Council that this figure is wrong and due to a glitch in the website.

There was one coronavirus-related death reported by York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust today.

That takes the total to 807 across the trust (York and Scarborough Hospitals).

There are 185 confirmed and suspected Covid patients in York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (York and Scarborough Hospitals). Five are in the intensive care unit – up three since Friday.
