Monday update: York coronavirus case rate goes above 100

A further 55 coronavirus cases were confirmed in York today (Monday, 21 June).

That takes the cumulative case total to 12,908 – giving an overall infection rate of 6,128.6 cases per 100,000 people.

In the last seven days 280 people in York have tested positive for Covid-19 – up 136 (94.4%) week on week.

The rolling seven-day rate in York is 102.6 new cases per 100,000 people (216 cases in the week to 17 June). That’s up from 55.6 in the previous seven days (117 cases in the week to 10 June).

The English national average is 89.9, the Yorkshire and Humber average is 94.6.

There have been no coronavirus deaths in the City of York Council area reported today, and five in the last seven days (as at 21 June).

In North Yorkshire, there were 70 new coronavirus cases today, taking the cumulative total to 31,183 – an infection rate of 5,056.7 cases per 100K.

There are 1,941 cases in Ryedale (up three), 5,474 in Selby (up 15), 8,065 in Harrogate (up 26), 4,335 in Hambleton (up four), 5,699 in Scarborough (up two), 2,747 in Richmondshire (up nine) and 2,992 in Craven (up 11).

There were no coronavirus-related deaths reported by York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust today.

That leaves the total at 593 across the trust (York and Scarborough Hospitals). The last death was reported on 15 June.

There was one coronavirus patient admitted to the trust on 13 June, and three in the previous seven days.
