Monday update: York coronavirus case rate down, number in hospital up

Another 416 coronavirus cases were confirmed in York today (Monday, 10 January).

That takes the cumulative case total to 41,464 – giving an overall infection rate of 19,650.1 cases per 100,000 people.

In the last seven days 3,118 people in York have tested positive for Covid-19 – down 651 (-17.3%) week on week.

The rolling seven-day rate in York is 1,637.8 new cases per 100,000 people (3,456 cases in the week to 6 January). That’s down from 1,665.8 in the previous seven days (3,515 cases in the week to 30 December).

The English national average is 1,862.9, the Yorkshire and Humber average is 2,133.7.

There were no coronavirus deaths in the City of York Council area reported today, and four in the last seven days (as at 10 January).

There were two coronavirus-related deaths reported by York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust today.

That takes the total to 748 across the trust (York and Scarborough Hospitals).

Today there are 146 Covid patients in York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (York and Scarborough Hospitals) – up 40 since Friday. There is one patient in the intensive care unit – down two.
