Monday update: Two more coronavirus cases in York, 12 in North Yorkshire

Just two more coronavirus were confirmed in York today (Monday, 17 May).

That takes the cumulative total to 12,351 – giving an overall infection rate of 5,864.2 cases per 100,000 people.

In the last seven days 31 people in York have tested positive for Covid-19 – down six (-16.2%) week on week.

The rolling seven-day rate in York is 16.6 new cases per 100,000 people (35 cases in the week to 13 May). That’s up from 14.2 in the previous seven days (30 cases in the week to 6 May).

The English national average is 23, the Yorkshire and Humber average is 39.1.

There have been no coronavirus deaths in the City of York Council area in the last seven days.

In North Yorkshire, there were 12 new coronavirus cases today, taking the cumulative total to 30,173  – an infection rate of 4,883.9 cases per 100K.

There are 1,900 cases in Ryedale (no change), 5,202 in Selby (up five), 7,741 in Harrogate (up two), 4,229 in Hambleton (up one), 5,613 in Scarborough (up three), 2,650 in Richmondshire (no change) and 2,850 in Craven (up one).

There were no more coronavirus-related deaths reported by York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust today – or at the weekend.

That leaves the total at 591 across the trust (York and Scarborough Hospitals). The last death reported at the trust was on 21 April.
