Monday update: Positive Covid tests in York drop by a quarter

Another 20 coronavirus cases were confirmed in York today (Monday, 1 March).

It takes the cumulative total to 11,873 – giving an overall infection rate of 5,637.2 cases per 100,000 people.

In the last seven days 124 people in York have tested positive for Covid-19 – a decrease of 41 (-24.8%) week on week.

The rolling seven-day rate in York is 72.6 new cases per 100,000 people (153 cases in the week to 25 February). That’s up from 67.9 in the previous seven days (143 cases in the week to 18 February).

The English national average is 102.9, the Yorkshire and Humber average is 141.9.

There has been one more coronavirus-related death in the York council area, and five in the last seven days (down seven / -58.3%).

In North Yorkshire, there were 43 new coronavirus cases today, taking the cumulative total to 28,118  – an infection rate of 4,549.4 cases per 100K.

There are 1,790 cases in Ryedale (up one), 4,559 in Selby (up seven), 7,312 in Harrogate (up 17), 4,032 in Hambleton (up six), 5,298 in Scarborough (up four), 2,475 in Richmondshire (up five) and 2,652 in Craven (up three).

There was one more coronavirus-related deaths reported by York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust today.

That leaves the total at 573 across the trust (York and Scarborough Hospitals).
