Monday update: Only one area of York now has more than 50 coronavirus cases

A further 69 coronavirus cases were confirmed in York today (Monday, 2 August).

That takes the cumulative case total to 17,375 – giving an overall infection rate of 8,282.3 cases per 100,000 people.

In the last seven days 537 people in York have tested positive for Covid-19 – down 84 (-13.5%) week on week.

The rolling seven-day rate in York is 245.5 new cases per 100,000 people (517 cases in the week to 29 July). That’s down from 355.6 in the previous seven days (749 cases in the week to 22 July).

The English national average is 296.6, the Yorkshire and Humber average is 360.4.

There have been no coronavirus deaths in the City of York Council area reported today, and none in the last seven days (as at 2 August).

In North Yorkshire, there were 178 new coronavirus cases today, taking the cumulative total to 43,471 – an infection rate of 7,033.5 cases per 100K.

There are:

  • 2,562 cases in Ryedale (up 12) – case rate 182.4 per 100K
  • 7,298 in Selby (up 28) – 262.6
  • 11,313 in Harrogate (up 38) – 272.3
  • 6,336 in Hambleton (up 29) – 290.4
  • 7,882 in Scarborough (up 30) – 292.4
  • 3,897 in Richmondshire (up 20) – 268
  • 4,183 in Craven (up 21) – 273.

There were no coronavirus-related deaths reported by York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust today – or at the weekend.

That leaves the total at 601 across the trust (York and Scarborough Hospitals). The last death was reported on 21 July.

There were five coronavirus patients admitted to the York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust trust on 25 July, and 34 in the previous seven days (up four).
