Monday update: One more coronavirus death at York NHS Trust – as city’s rate passes 400

A further 126 coronavirus cases were confirmed in York today (Monday, 5 July) – as well as one more death in the NHS Trust.

That takes the cumulative case total to 14,403 – giving an overall infection rate of 6,838.4 cases per 100,000 people.

In the last seven days 858 people in York have tested positive for Covid-19 – up 221 (34.7%) week on week.

The rolling seven-day rate in York is 411.6 new cases per 100,000 people (867 cases in the week to 1 July). That’s up from 242.1 in the previous seven days (510 cases in the week to 24 June).

The English national average is 223.8, the Yorkshire and Humber average is 283.5.

There have been no coronavirus deaths in the City of York Council area reported today, and none in the last seven days (as at 5 July).

In North Yorkshire, there were 248 new coronavirus cases today, taking the cumulative total to 33,819 – an infection rate of 5,471.9 cases per 100K.

There are

  • 2,080 cases in Ryedale (up 16) – case rate 158.9 per 100K
  • 5,882 in Selby (up 32) – 224
  • 8,855 in Harrogate (up 82) – 249.3
  • 4,666 in Hambleton (up 45) – 209.6
  • 6,082 in Scarborough (up 40) – 215.2
  • 3,007 in Richmondshire (up 17) – 277.3
  • 3,247 in Craven (up 16) – 215.3.

There was one coronavirus-related death reported by York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust today.

That takes the total to 594 across the trust (York and Scarborough Hospitals).

There were no coronavirus patients admitted to the trust on 27 June, and seven in the previous seven days (up one).
