Monday update: Just 11 people with positive coronavirus tests at both York universities

There were another 21 coronavirus cases confirmed in York today (Monday, 7 December).

That takes the cumulative total to 5,774 – giving an overall infection rate of 2,741.5 cases per 100,000 people.

In the last seven days there have been 128 positive Covid-19 tests in York – a decrease of 29 (18.5%) week on week.

The rolling seven-day rate in York is 60.3 new cases per 100,000 people (127 cases in the week to 3 December). That’s down from 96.9 in the previous seven days (204 cases in the week to 26 November).

At the University of York, there were 11 individuals self isolating due to a positive Covid-19 test today. Since the previous update on Friday it has been notified of no new cases.

At York St John University, there were no people self isolating due to a positive test today.

In North Yorkshire, there were 76 new coronavirus cases today, taking the cumulative total to 13,935 – an infection rate of 2,254.7 cases per 100K.

There are 770 cases in Ryedale (up six), 2,196 in Selby (up ten), 3,725 in Harrogate (up 21), 1,774 in Hambleton (up ten), 3,061 in Scarborough (up 17), 1,027 in Richmondshire (up three) and 1,382 in Craven (up nine).

There was one more coronavirus-related death reported by York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust today. We don’t know whether it was at York or Scarborough Hospitals

That takes the total to 314.
