Monday update: Big drop in coronavirus case rate in York

A further 440 coronavirus cases were confirmed in York today (Monday, 4 April) – including all the cases over the weekend.

That takes the cumulative case total to 62,444 – giving an overall infection rate of 29,592.6 cases per 100,000 people.

In the last seven days 1,415 people in York have tested positive for Covid-19 – down 588 (-29.4%) week on week.

The rolling seven-day rate in York is 805.2 new cases per 100,000 people (1,699 cases in the week to 28 March). It was 925.1 on Friday.

The English national average is 788.7, the Yorkshire and Humber average is 708.1.

There have been seven coronavirus deaths in the City of York Council area in the last seven days (up two). The total number of deaths in the city is 462.
