Monday update: Another coronavirus death at York Hospital and 87 more cases in the city

One more person has died of Covid-19 in York Hospital, and 87 more coronavirus cases were confirmed in York today (Monday, 19 October).

That takes the cumulative total to 2,773 – giving an overall infection rate of 1,316.6 cases per 100,000 people.

The rolling seven-day rate in York is 289.6 new cases per 100,000 people (610 cases in the week to 15 October). That’s up from 262.1 in the previous seven days (552 cases in the week to 8 October).

York now has the 42nd highest seven-day rate in England.

In the last seven days there have been 678 positive Covid-19 tests in York – which is up by 166 (32.4%).

At the University of York, there were 331 individuals self isolating due to a positive Covid-19 test. That includes a further 114 new cases since the previous update at 12pm on Friday (16 October).

At York St John University there were 57 people self isolating due to a positive test on Sunday.

In North Yorkshire, there were 117 new confirmed Covid-19 cases today, taking the cumulative total to 5,970 – an infection rate of 965.9 cases per 100K.

There are 341 cases in Ryedale (up six), 895 in Selby (up 34), 1,720 in Harrogate (up 28), 780 in Hambleton (up 15), 1,044 in Scarborough (up 18), 518 in Richmondshire (up four) and 672 in Craven (up 12).

That brings the total to 224. We don’t have an up-to-date breakdown of that figure between York and Scarborough Hospitals.
