Full council meeting cancelled

A meeting of Selby’s full council has been cancelled due to the extreme weather.

The meeting had been scheduled for 6pm in the council chamber at the civic centre in Doncaster Road.

Temperatures in the town reached 37C on Tuesday afternoon, according to the Met Office.

A Selby District Council spokesperson said: “The items on the agenda will be carried forward to the next full council meeting on the 27th September.”

Full council meetings, attended by councillors of all parties, typically include motions, petitions and reports from senior councillors.
