Christmas Day update: 78 more coronavirus cases in York

There were 78 more coronavirus cases confirmed in York today (Friday, 25 December).

It takes the cumulative total to 6,526 – giving an overall infection rate of 3,098.5 cases per 100,000 people.

In the last seven days there have been 506 positive Covid-19 tests in York – an increase of 344 (212.3%) week on week.

In North Yorkshire, there were 195 new coronavirus cases today, taking the cumulative total to 16,104 – an infection rate of 2,605.6 cases per 100K.

There are 903 cases in Ryedale (up nine), 2,542 in Selby (up 17), 4,127 in Harrogate (up 37), 2,059 in Hambleton (up 47), 3,694 in Scarborough (up 56), 1,207 in Richmondshire (up 15) and 1,572 in Craven (up 14).

There was one more coronavirus-related death reported by York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust today.

That takes the total to 359 across the trust (York and Scarborough Hospitals).
