Learn more about the history of cocktails – in this interactive monthly event from Evil Eye, York.
The popular bar on Stonegate has started a monthly event all about what they do best: cocktails! Participants can discover the history of cocktails, how they’re created, as well as plenty of samples to try.
The History of Cocktails event takes place the last Monday of every month – meaning that the next one will be on Monday 26 February.

The event is from 7pm to 8:30pm, and costs £15 per person.
The event was created by one of the bar staff at Evil Eye, after being inspired by David Kaplan’s craft cocktail guidebook Death & Co.
“Since working my first job in a cocktail bar when I was 18 I fell in love with cocktails and wanted to know as much as I could about them,” they said.
“Having now worked in cocktail bars for six years, my passion for it has continued to grow and I have tried to build as much knowledge as possible over time.”
This led to the idea of creating an event to utilise this knowledge at Evil Eye.
“I really wanted to do something with this passion, as there’s only so much chance to talk to customers over the bar, so I had the idea to start a little cocktail history class.
“Covering everything from the invention of the cocktail, to individual spirits and their use in cocktails, I’m aiming to cover all bases and give an in-depth detailing of where the cocktails that are so imbued within our society have come from.”
Every month a different topic will be covered at the event, so no two events will be exactly the same!
Attendees to the History of Cocktails will also receive a 15% discount on drinks the day and night of the event.
