It’s the vegan must-have treat in York right now.
The Döner Summer home freezer vegan fried chick’n keeps selling out in a matter of minutes.
Launching online-only four weeks ago, this chick’n has been a sell-out from the York shop on Gillygate.
Costing only £4.95 the 100% vegan chick’n gives people the at home Döner Summer experience.
Week on week they have increased their stock levels allowing more people to access it however, the demand still seems to be higher.
It is also one of the first at-home vegan battered junk food chick’n available from the comfort of your own home.
Owned by Andy Tordoff and Chris Riley-Smith, the duo launched Döner Summer in 2018 at their first location of Spark York and then further went on to launch restaurants in Huddersfield, Hull, Leeds, Sheffield, and Manchester.

They specialise in vegan junk food, selling items such as vegan burgers, kebabs, loaded fries paired with a range of cocktails and beers.
Their chick’n is made from seitan, which is flour and water mixed with spices and deep-fried to form their famous Döner Summer chick’n. Not only does their food taste amazing it will even catch the vegan nonbeliever into thinking it is chicken, as well as offering Instagrammable food.
Some personal recommendations if you ever fancy visiting is ‘What’s Garlic in French’ burger, ‘Chick’n Parm Teller’ and the garlic tots. Also, you have the pair that all with their vegan sauces, my favourite is the Korean mayo.
If you fancy testing your luck out on this vegan chick’n then head over to www.donersummer.com on Mondays at 7 pm for your chance to try it out for yourself.
