Police are appealing for witnesses to a confrontation between a driver and a cyclist in York.
The clash resulted in armed police being deployed outside York Minster.
Police say that the driver of a black car – previously described as a Renault Megane – and a cyclist were involved in a “public order” incident at around 2.15pm on Thursday (3 February).
The driver was said to have threatened the cyclist in the Lendal Bridge–Museum Street area.
A 25-year-old man from Leeds was arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm and affray.
Two other men, aged 24 and 22, were also arrested. All three have now been released on bail pending further enquiries.
Today, North Yorkshire Police said the investigation was ongoing, and appealed for “the public’s assistance to help establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident”.
